About This Site
This website is the commercial website for Northside Shopping Centre in Dublin.
Overall Site Structure
For the main part the site consists of a top section, a middle section and a bottom section.
The top section includes the Northside Logo, and menu navigation and sub navigation component.
The middle section column 1 contains a side bar which consists of a quick store search utilising a drop-down menu. The side column consists of advertising about online vouchers and competitions or giveaways.
Column 2 is the area where static content is displayed.
The third column consists of advertising information and shopping centre opening hours. The bottom section of the site consists of four site specific links, Corporate Overview, Privacy Statement, Site Statement and Contact.
Site Layout & Navigation
Users who use the TAB key to navigate through the site will come across the following links. To move backwards in the navigation press the SHIFT key with the TAB key.
Northside Logo always links back to home page.
Quick Find Menu - "quick link to". Use the down arrow to navigate through the quick link choices. The next tab is the GO button for the quick link menu.
Tab next to the keyword search and tab to the find it button and hit enter to execute the search.
The next 2 tabs take the user to a homepage link and the to the five main areas of the site represented as main navigation. These are 1. Store Directory 2. Getting Here 3. Shopper Tips 4. Entertainment and Leisure 5. Corporate
If none of these sections are entered, the next TAB keystroke brings the user to the sub navigation for the section the user is in, which is listed along the left-hand side of the page.
Second Column - Content Area The content area of the website exists within the second column. The site content varies from static informational content to dynamically generated links. For example, in the A-Z of stores, the content area consists of links to all the retail stores in the complex.
Third Column - Banner Area The third column consists of tile advertisements that link to various section of the website. Occasionally, these advertisement tiles link to external websites.
Search Functionality
In addition to the search tools in the top section of the pages, the site has a series of A-Z search pages and specific section based search mechanisms.
Accessibility
The site is designed to adhere to best practice levels of accessibility, where feasible. Priority 1 and 3 has been implemented, and as much of Priority Level 2 as is possible have been achieved. Information about these guidelines is available at http://www.w3.org or http://www.accessit.nda.ie. Users can use the TAB key to logically navigate through the website.
